    Photocatalytic activity of facade paints containing commrecial ZnO and TiO2 photocatalyst

  • Original language description

    Photocatalytic properties of self cleaning acrylic paint containing TiO2 and ZnO were studied using Acid Orange 7 as a model compound. Paints were exposed to simulated weathering tests in QUV panel. It was found, that in paints containing P25, photocatalytic activity increases from 0 up to 200 hrs of weathering tests. For longer exposition time photoactivity is fairly constant. On the contrary in the case of paints with ZnO a decrease of photocatalytic activity was observed after 300 hrs of exposition in QUV panel. Decrease of photocatalytic activity in paints with ZnO could be explained by the release of pigment and photocatalyst particles during weathering tests.
