Using of electrochemical polarization method for detection of structural changes in heat-resistant steels after long-term creep exposition
Original language description
This work is focused on evaluation of structural changes in long-term creep stressed 9% Cr heat-resistant steel P92 using polarization method. Earlier studies showed that the shape of polarization curves of this steel in both sulphuric acid and sodium hydroxide solution slightly changes after long-term heating. This change is attributed to precipitation of phases enriched with elements easily soluble in transpassive region (chromium, molybdenum, tungsten). Moreover, transition into the transpassive region is active degradation process during oxidation in supercritical steam. The aim of this work is to assess the influence of exposition under different creep conditions. Scanning electron microscopy equipped with EDS analyser was used for structure observation and evaluation. Measured curves show very different electrochemical behaviour of heated and creep stressed steel. In addition, the influence of pure alloying elements was studied.
