Investigation of the first and second dehydroxylation of kaolinite
Original language description
The paper deals with the investigation of differences between the first and the second dehydroxylation of kaolinite by means of simultaneous thermal analysis (DSC-TG). The degree of conversion was calculated by integration of peak areas from DSC curves.Kinetic parameters such as activation energy (Ea) were calculated using simple isoconversional methods, and the order of reaction (n) was determined from peak values. It was proved that the temperature of peak at DSC curves shifts to lower temperatures with the increasing disorder of the kaolinite structure. The Ea values of the first dehydroxylation of kaolinite ranges from 149 to 162 kJ/mol. The Ea values of the second dehydroxylation are reaching 87 - 92 % of Ea values of the first dehydroxylation.
