Corrosion resistance of phosphated steels with plasma sprayed ceramic coatings
Original language description
Steel phosphating, especially phosphating of low carbon steel, is currently the highest level of surface pretreatment in the automotive industry. Beside improvement of corrosion resistance, this method can lead to better abrasion resistance of ceramic thermal spray coatings. In the presented work, results of adhesion measurements for different systems of a steel sheet-phosphate interlayer-ceramic coating are described. The interlayers were produced by Mn, Zn and Fe phosphating and the Al2O3, Eucor and silicate coatings were deposited by WSP(R) torch (deposition capacity up to 40kg/h). However, successful application of the WSP(R) technique depends on the choice of correct deposition parameters preserving the hydrated phosphates from thermal destructionby the molten ceramic particles. For the adhesion measurement ISO 4624 standardized test was used.
