DEGRADATION PRODUCTS OF PHARMACEUTICAL SUBSTANCES IN THE ELECTRIC FIELD
Original language description
Pharmaceutical powders are prone to electrostatic charging by interact particles with equipment surface and the surface of other particles. The electrostatic charge of pharmaceutical powder particles affects properties of a raw material and all powder handling procedures, as the generated charge affects character and purity of final dosage form. The effect of electrostatic charge on composition of charged pharmaceutical substances was studied. The experimental charging was performed on samples of selected pharmaceutical substances and the charge was simulated by placing the samples in an electric field. The tested substances are morphinan alkaloids and trospium chloride. The electric fields were generated in two ways - corona discharge (2-10 kV) and byvoltage (15 kV) applied to electrodes attached to a glass horizontal tube. The experimental parameters were chosen to determination relationship between degradation process and the size of applied voltage, the period of charging or the c
