Modeling of HMOR of Refractory Castables at Very High Temperature
Original language description
The hot modulus of rupture (HMOR) modeling has been performed for a low-cement castable, ultra-low cement castable, and no-cement castable. All castables contained SiO2-Al2O3 based aggregates (burned fireclay and kaolin). A new model of temperature dependence of HMOR has been proposed. This HMOR model presumes a viscoelastic behavior of a refractory material at the point of rupture. In the simplest case, a refractory material is considered to be a Maxwellian solid for which the viscosity parameter of adash-pot is described by a simple Arrhenian relationship and the elastic parameter of a spring is independent of temperature. Experimental data points were interlaid by the model curve and the excellent agreement has been found in spite of the fact thatonly three adjustable parameters are involved in the HMOR model. It was suggested that low values of the model parameters, especially the viscosity of a dash-pot, are related to the disrupted structure of a refractory material undergoing
