In situ preparation and stabilization of silver nanoparticles-water glass composite
Original language description
Water glass - silver nanoparticles composite was prepared by simple reduction method of in situ prepared silver hydroxide by ascorbic acid in presence of sodium silicate. Various shapes and forms were produced by treatment of formed dispersion by carbon dioxide. Prepared material was characterised by Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy - energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction. Average diameter of silver nanoparticles was 22 nm. Chemicals used have no or low toxicity and are affordable and environmentally friendly. The method is to use in various applications where long-term stable silver nanoparticles in easily shapeable solid matrix are desired.
