Original language description
For optimal long time operation of PEM fuel cell it is necessary to ensure high purity of reacting gasses. For hydrogen it is related to the technology of its production and purification. Significantly more complicated situation is for oxidant if ambient air is used. Proper air filtration is necessary to prevent contact of mechanical and chemical pollutants with cathode catalyst. On the other hand the energy consumption of air blowers to compensate filters pressure drop decreases system efficiency. The air filter suitable for mobile APU unit was designed and constructed with respect to the absorption capacity of model pollutant at the same time reflecting its pressure drop.
