Original language description
A new method for the preparation of halocyclobutenes isdescribed. The developed process involves the dehydration of halocyclobutanolsby using tetrafluoroboric acid–diethyl ether complex in dichloromethaneat room temperature. The process allows for high yieldsof halocyclobutenes to be achieved by using alcohols that do not triggerthe formation of isomeric allylic halides.
