Heterogeneous catalysts based on salts of N-heterocycles for cycloaddition of CO2
Original language description
In this paper, the novel materials based on MCM-41-supported salts of N-heterocycles were prepared, and characterized by available methods (EA, DRUV, XRD, TGA, and nitrogen physisorption). The prepared materials were used as catalysts for the cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to epoxides. The model reaction for this study was the cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to styrene oxide leading to the synthesis of styrene carbonate. The influence of the halogen type and N-heterocycle used was observed. The cycloaddition reactions using the prepared catalysts proved to be highly selective (almost 100 % in all cases). The most efficient catalyst was composed of (3iodopropyl)trimethoxysilane and 1-methylimidazole, forming MCM-41supporting 1-methylimidazolium iodide with the conversion of styrene oxide 99 % (120 degrees C, 1.2 MPa, solvent-free, 5 h).
