Original language description
T he article comprehensively evaluates the find of a zoomorphic (peacock) enamelled plate brooch of Roman origin. The brooch is dated to the 2nd century aD. The artefact was made of a copper alloy with a high proportion of zinc. it is ancient brass – the so-called aurichalcum. The peacock motif was one of the popular decorative elements in Roman antiquity, and in the case of a brooch, it can be associated with the symbolism of luxury, prosperity and wealth.
