Nickel catalyst for hot gas cleaning in biomass gasification
Original language description
The tar present in the gas from biomass gasification can be removed from the gas by catalytic steam reforming. The standard catalysts provide the complete degradation of the tar by the reaction with steam at temperatures higher than 800°C. However, thereare some drawbacks in theirs utilization. Therefore attention has been directed to prereforming catalysts, which are able to work at lower temperatures. In the work the conversion of model compounds on different commercial nickel catalysts was studied. Influence of the model compound concentration and the amount of steam on the tar conversion and catalyst deactivation was evaluated. The presented results confirm that some catalysts used were able to operate at typical prereforming conditions at temperatures in the range of 450-500°C with the full conversion of model compounds.
