Tungstate sorption on resin with aminoglucitol functional group

  • Original language description

N-methylglucamine (1-deoxy-1-methylamino-D-glucitol) functional group is able to form complexes with some metal oxanions through OH groups and thus to remove them selectively from solution. Depending on pH and concentration tungsten forms in water solution various oxoanions. In this work, two stable forms were used - H2W12O406- (acidic area) a WO42- (alkali area). The inlet concentration of tungsten was 20 mg/L, accompanied by 0 to 1 000 mg/L (of Cl- or SO42-). Results indicate that in neutral and acidic area, there is a possitive effect of Na+ ion from accompanying salts. The sorbent is able to effectively (up to concentration 0.1 mg/L) remove tungsten oxoanions from water solutions containing accompanying salts.
