This paper describes the start-up of two municipal wastewater treatment plants, damaged by floods. The main emphasis is laid on the nitrogen removal processes - nitrification and denitrification. Two different start-up strategies were chosen in the WWTP's: the first one was seeded with sludge from another treatment plant; the start-up of the second plant was based on inoculation with wastewater only.

Tento článek se zabývá srovnáním zapracování nitrifikace a denitrifikace na dvou čistírnách odpadních vod. V obou případech došlo ke ztrátě aktivovaného kalu, byly však zvoleny odlišné postupy jeho obnovy. Zatímco první čistírna byla inokulována aktivovaným kalem z jiné čistírny, na druhé čistírně byla biomasa vypěstována kultivací mikroorganismů přitékajících s odpadní vodou.
