Wet flue gas desulphurization - Reactor model

  • Original language description

Flue gas desulfurization process commonly known as FGD is a technology used for removing sulphur dioxide (SO2) from the flue gases in thermal power plants burning coal or oil to produce steam for the steam turbines propelling their electricity generators. Sulphur dioxide id responsible for the acid rain formation. Tall stacks disperse the emitted pollutants diluting them in the ambient air and transport them to the other regions. As a result of stringent environmental protection regulations regarding SO2 emissions that have been enacted in a great many countries, SO2 is now being removed from the flue gases by a variety of methods. Wet scrubbing using a slurry of sorbent, usually limestone or lime, to scurb the gases. It will be the case that we will study. Spray-dry scrubbing using similar sorbent slurries. Dry sorbent injection systems. In our case, the sulphur dioxide is being removed and transformed to gypsum. In tihs article, we will intend to describe the basic model of the exper
