Comparison of Migration Properties of Various Types of Nanoscale Zerovalent Iron in Porous Media
Original language description
This contribution relates to the application of nanoscale zerovalent iron (NZVI) for the subsurface remediation. We would like to present results of our experiments focused on objective comparison of the migration properties of several samples of the NZVI from various suppliers. Laboratory apparatus was constructed for the purpose mentioned above. Main idea of the experiments was to compare migration properties of the NZVI suspensions, if possible, under identical conditions. Thus, the apparatus consisted of dispersant, peristaltic pump, glass column filled by fine sand, measurement flow cell and data collection unit. Results from each experiment involved mass balance of the iron passed through the sand and values of pH, ORP and conductivity of the effluent water. Such results testify the progress of the migration process of the NZVI as well as the quantity of the NZVI available for the migration. Finally, it was possible to compare several samples of the NZVI for further research/appl
