Thermodynamic Possibilities of Producer Gas Desulfurization and Dechlorination by Ce, La, and Mn Based Solid Sorbents and Regeneration of Sorbents after Sulfidation

  • Original language description

The medium and high temperature (500 - 1100 K) methods of acid gas components removal from producer gas (syngas) rely usually on zinc and copper based solid sorbents. Such sorbents suffer from low ability of removal of organic sulfur compounds (e.g. thiophene), interferences caused by presence of HCl in cleaned gas and in difficult sorbent regeneration. Because cerium oxides (CexOy), lanthanum oxide (La2O3) and manganese oxide (MnO) based solid sorbents have been recognized to be suitable candidates fordeep removal of sulfur compounds from producer gas and for possible regeneration and multiple sorption/regeneration cycles, we have studied thermodynamics and equilibria for the removal of H2S, COS and thiophene from model syngas and possible regeneration of sorbents by means of SO2 and water vapour with accent on possible formation of elemental sulfur during the sorbent regeneration step. The results on theoretical attainable sulfur compounds concentrations by means of such sorbents ar
