Effect of hydrogen to oil ratio on hydrotreating of middle distillates and rapeseed oil blend

  • Original language description

The composition and properties of the stabilized products from the hydrotreating, in particular with regard to their use as a component of diesel fuel, were studied. The feedstock was a mixture of 93 % wt. gas oil and 7 % wt. light cycle oil. The feedstock has been hydrogenated in a laboratory flow reactor on a Ni-Mo/Al2O3 catalyst under the following reaction conditions: t = 345 oC, p = 4 MPa, WHSV = 1 h-1 and the ratio of hydrogen to the raw material 240 m3/m3. Under the same reaction conditions, the basic feedstock containing 20 % wt. of rapeseed oil was hydrogenated. Additional hydrogenations of the feedstock with rapeseed oil were carried out at hydrogen to feedstock ratio 120, 360, 480 and 600 m3/m3. The increase of hydrogen to feedstock ratio from 120 to 240 m3/m3 had a positive influence on the desulfurization of the feedstock and reducing of the content of bicyclic and polycyclic aromatic compounds in the stabilized liquid products. Further increase the ratio did not has significant impact on the properties of the obtained products.
