Integration of hydrogen methanation unit to a renewable energy storage system
Original language description
An increasing usage of fossil fuels as primary energy sources leads to large amount of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere. There is a growing research focusing on control the concentration of an atmospheric CO2 and its emissions. Carbon capture and storage technologies belongs to the options of reducing the greenhouse gas concentration. Besides geological sequestration of CO2, there is a growing interest in processes of conversion of CO2 into energy medium that can be easily stored and transported. The mostly mentioned process is based on Sabatier's reaction [1] when methane can be produced from carbon dioxide and hydrogen in the form of substitute natural gas (SNG).
