Original language description
Biomass to Liquid technology, especially through Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (BTL-FT), is gaining an increasing interest because of its ability to produce high-quality renewable motor fuels. In BTL-FT process, the biomass (such as wood chips or straw) is firstly converted into bio-mass-derived syngas by gasification. Then, impurities are removed, and composition of syngas is adjusted to produce clean syngas, which meets the Fischer–Tropsch synthesis requirements. The clean syngas is conducted into a Fischer–Tropsch catalytic reactor to produce hydrocarbons. This study provides detailed evaluation of biofuels obtained directly from a primary Fischer-Tropsch product obtained from the wood chips-derived syngas. These fuels were obtained by vacuum distillation of an untreated product from Low-Temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. The composition and physicochemical properties, such as density, viscosity, pour point, CFPP, were evaluated and compared to valid fuel specifications for motor fuels (EN 228 for gasoline and EN 590 for diesel fuel).
