Rhodotorula mucilaginosa and Candida maltosa degrading, respectively, naphtalene, phenanthrene and phenol, exhibit enhanced, however, different pattern of these compounds utilization if exposed to the effect of three preparations of humic acids. No uniform modulation of maximal rate of phenol biodegradation and phenol hydroxylase activity was found as well
