Original language description
In Mason-Pfizer monkey virus the assembly of immature capsids and the cleavage of polyprotein precursors are temporary and spatially separated processes making the virus an attractive model for investigation of protease activation. Here we present a highresolution NMR structure of fully folded monomer of Cys7/Ala, Asp26/Asn., Cys 106/Ala mutant of the 12kDa MPMV protease. The overall structures of both wt PR follow the conservative structural motif of other retroviral proteases.
