Correlation study of ELISA and HPLC/MS/MS methods for the determination of N-methylcarbamate insecticides in baby food - poster
Original language description
N-methylcarbamate pesticides started to be used worldwide as substituents of organochlorine compounds, due to their broad spectrum of activity, their relatively low mammalian toxicities in many case, and their low bioaccumulation potentials. As reg ardsthe potential risk arising from the use of pesticides, a vulnerable consumer's groups are children. They can be exposed by inhaling contaminated air, ingesting tainted food or non-dietary substances (i.e. dust or soil), or absorbing them through theskinfrom contaminated media. As shown by human exposure studies, dietary ingestion may be an important pathway to become exposed to pesticides. In this work, a correlation study of monoclonal antibody-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (E LISAs) and aliquid chromatography-electrospray mass spectrometric (HPLC/ESI/MS/MS) method for the determination of N-methylcarbamate insecticides carbofuran, carbaryl and methiocarb in fruit baby food is presented.
