GC/MS determination of musk compounds in fish samples - dietary exposure assessment
Original language description
The aim of presented study was to estimate human exposure to musk compounds from fish. Various species were analysed using validated analytical method comprising Soxhlet extraction, automated gel permeation chromatography (GPC) clean-up step and identification and quantification by GC/Q-MS/EI. Musk compounds were found in all analysed batches of fish samples (years 2001, 2002). In most cases, levels of musk compounds depends on size of particular fish species and its lipid content. Levels of major muskcompounds (Galaxolide and Tonalide) ranged from 0.5 to 200 ng/g, levels of the other compounds (Celestolide, Phantolide, Traseolide, Musk xylene and Musk ketone) from < LOD (0.07) to 7 ng/g of fish tissue.
