    Attached microorganisms may be more resistant to sanitizing compounds than free-living cells and cause serious problem such as cross contamination and post-processing contamination. Biofilms of Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas spp. were grown on polyethylene, polystyrene and stainless steel surfaces for 5 and 14 days in nutrient medium. These biofilms were treated with commercial disinfectant based on hypochlorites. The effect of the disinfectant on the bacterial cells was investigated using conventional cultivation on selective medium. The results showed that disinfectants concentration used in food processing is not effective on bacterial cells in biofilm.
