Ability of bacterial biphenyl dioxygenases from Burkholderia sp. LB400 and Comamonas testosteroni B-356 to catalyse oxygenation of ortho-hydroxybiphenyls formed from PCBs by plants
Original language description
Transgenic plant technology showed many obvious advantages over conventional plant breeding approaches for crop improvement. Recent discoveries allowed the engineering of new transgenic plants generating desirable products, such as enzymes, polymers andvaccines. Among new approaches, the use of transgenic plants specifically tailored for the bioremediation of the organic pollutants and heavy metals have recently occurred. This paper shows introduction of bacterial gene of dihydroxybiphenyldioxygenase to plant cells.
