A photocatalytic degradation of impurities in wastewaters from food industry
Original language description
A growing interest in problems associated with organic pollution of water leads to the research of new methods, which allow the oxidation of pollutants to the final mineralization of organic compounds. Photocatalysis is a modern technology, whose applications grow exponentially because this oxidation process exploits natural resources without the use of other chemicals. Photo-oxidation decomposition of organic substances in polluted water does not produce more waste material burdening the environment; however, the major limits for the practical application are the relative slowness of the process and limited effectiveness of the radiation source. Different experimental conditions during the photocatalytic degradation of phenol and 2,3-chlorofenol weretested. The UV radiation allows a very intense degradation of these dangerous pollutants. The speed of degradation is also possible to increase by the use of a catalyst (TiO2), as well as by the supply of O2.

Fotokalytická degradace nečistot v odpadních vodách potravinářského průmyslu
