Novel LC-MS strategy to monitore brominated flame retardants together with their metabolites in food matrices.
Original language description
Due to the extensive human activities the environment has been exposed to a large number of various chemical substances such as Brominated Flame Retardants (BFRs). Due to their lipophilicity these substances may be accumulated in various parts of the environment as well as in food chains. For the living organisms including humans, BFRs can pose the health risk connected with a negative interference with hormonal system. Considering only limited information on human exposure to BFRs, in December 2009 European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) released a call for more data concerning, except for routinely determined polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), also polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) and other brominated phenols as well as for other emerging BFRs as decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) and bis(2,4,6-tribromphenoxy)ethane (BTBPE). Because of the above mentioned reasons, monitoring of their occurrence together with a development o
