Continuous chromatographic separation
Original language description
The operation in continuous mode makes use of the simulated counter-current movement of the liquid phase and the solid sorbent (SMB) achieved by appropriate changing and setting the inflows and outflows of the column system with the view of achieving the required periodic steady state. The correct setting of flows is critical for the purpose. The flows of liquids in particular branches are provided by remotely controlled metering pumps able to maintain the required individual flow rates. The control system has been designed as the distributed one and drafted not only to provide the basic measurements and control but also to allow implementing modern control algorithms. The station is thus capable to be employed for works related to separation of substances as well as for the development and testing of methods for controlling the process.
