Modelling of Production Processes in WITNESS 2000 Simulation Package
Original language description
Discrete event systems, as opposed to dynamic systems, are difficult to describe using classical modelling methods. Typical examples of discrete event systems are production, logistic and service systems. These systems are modelled in WITNESS using modern queuing and network simulation technique. Principles of model building for processes taken as discrete event systems and methodology of step-by-step building of a simulation project are described in the article. The intuitive and visually interactive user interface makes model building fast and simple. Its extensive set of elements and configurations can depict reality with accuracy. By way of OLE capability, it can be used with other software applications and information systems.
