Wiener Filtering in Image Restoration
Result description
The problem of damaged image restoration is very common in various areas where image information is processed. In case that the image degradation is linear and in case that it is possible to obtain some information about the nature of damage, the image restoration can be solved by Wiener filtering. Image corruption can be modelled as 2D convolution of desired information and the corrupting filter with an additive noise. Using the inverse operation, it is possible to compute desired image. The theory presented is applied to blurred images the damage of which is caused by their movement. Results for both the simulated and real medical magnetic resonance images are presented.
