Original language description
Combination of molecular mechanics simulations with x-ray powder diffraction, infrared and Raman spectroscopy has been used to solve the specific problems in structure analysis of intercalated layered structures, i.e.: the position and orientation of theguest species with respect to layers, their ordering in the interlayer space and the stacking of layers. This complex structure analysis of intercalates enables the structure determination, the characterization of possible disorder and the estimation ofthe host-guest interaction energy and the total sublimation energy. The strategy of the complex structure analysis will be illustrated on two examples: (1) the vanadyl-phosphate intercalated with ethanol and (2) ?- zirconium phosphate intercalated with ethanol.
