Original language description
Solid complexes of D-galacturonic acid with copper(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II) and oxovanadium(IV) were synthesised by the treatment of aqueous solution of the acid with freshly prepared metal hydroxides followed by precipitation with 2-propanol. Vibrational absorption and circular dichroism spectra of these complexes as well as of free ligand were measured in D2O and Me2SO-d6 systems. These results confirm that uronic carboxylates in metal complexes may participate in the formation of optically activespecies.
