Original language description
The study deals with the comparison of different flotation agents influencing the wettability of the plastic material. Two depressors (calcium lignosulfonate and tannin) and two frothers (a?terpineol and tetraethylenglykoldodecylether) were tested in this study. The impact of flotation agents concentration on the wettability of different plastic materials has been determined. In order to establish an optimal in-use concentration of the flotation agents - the range where the slope concentration dependence of surface tension of acquires its maximum values - the concentration dependence of surface tension and contact angles of aqueous solutions has been measured. Based on the obtained results, appropriate combinations of flotation agents were proposed toenable separation of polystyrene from a two-component mixture containing polyethylene, polypropylene, or polymethylmethacrylate. The separation was successful in all cases.
