Vapour pressures of benzophhenone and phenathrene in tbe low-pressure region
Original language description
Vapour pressure of phenanthrene and benzophenone was measured by Knudsen effusion method and by static method in the temperature range from 310 K to 373 K. Benzophenone is often used as a standard reference material for the measurement of vapour pressures. Phenanthrene is a typical polyaromatic hydrocarbon of interest for petroleum and coal processing industry. The effusion apparatus was used to measure vapour pressures of solids in the pressure range from 0.1 to 1 Pa. The static apparatus was redesignedand completely rebuilt to extend available temperature range and to improve accuracy and reproducibility of measured vapour pressures. Its available pressure range is from 1 Pa to 1300 Pa; this paper reports measurements from 1 Pa to 50 Pa. Inf1uence ofthermal transpiration in the static apparatus was examined experimentally.Recornmended vapour pressure data are given in terms of parameters of the Antoine and Cox vapour pressure correlation equations.
