Application of the dispersion model in the modeling of a multi-impeller flow reactor
Original language description
The study of the hydrodynamics of a double-impeller flow system using the impulse-response technique was carried out. The modeling of such a system requires the application of a regression analysis of the experimental data using different models. One ofthe models used is the dispersion model characterized by Peclet number Pe in dimensionless form (single parameter model) and also characterized by the axial dispersion coefficient De and interstitial fluid velocity u in the one dimensional form (double parameter model). The numerical method used to solve the partial differential equation is the numerical method of lines. The dimensionless and one-dimensional forms of the axial dispersion model were compared to ascertain which best represented the system. Analytical presented by Yagi and Miyauchi (1953) as well as Brenner (1962) and numerical solutions were compared along with the effects of altering the number of subsections on the numerical solution.
