Practical considerations of the influence of organic modifiers on the ionization of analytes and buffers in reversed-phase LC
Original language description
The retention of organic acids and bases in reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography is strongly dependent on the pH of the mobile phase. However, the influence of an organic solvent on the ionization of acidic or basic solutes and the buffer is not always well understood. This article provides some theoretical background, experimental data, and practical considerations aimed at illuminating this important aspect of reversed-phase liquid chromatography
