Saving of water in chemical processes based on pinch technology
Original language description
Water in chemical and similar processes belongs to the cheapest chemicals, but with a very rapidly growing price. Gone are the days, when water costs were negligible in calculation. One of the consequences of this situation is also very often missing measurement of water flow rate.Water in chemical processes is usually encountered as cooling and technological water. Integration in terms of water means its re-use in the process. However cooling water is heated and technological water is polluted in the process and recycling assumes further treatment, inlet of fresh water and outlet of wastewater. Both cases are well described in literature under the conception of water pinch.Critical review of accessible theory and case studies shows, that there are some less discussed opportunities for water saving.
