Optimization of Short-term Production Plans by Means of Simulation
Original language description
A summation of customer demands on different products is basic information at drawing of short-term plan for multiproduct batch processes. Each order is determined by sorts and quantities of products. The producer makes efforts to draw a plan so that manufacturing of products for different customers is combined into campaigns. This reduces material- and time-consuming cleaning of the production line at changeovers. It is advisable to make proposals of several alternative short-term plans, but their verification is complicated. Simulation of multiproduct batch line for made plans is a quick way of their evaluation. It is moreover possible to carry out simulation experiments aimed at discovering the production plan sufficiently advantageous from the economic standpoint that conforms to the date requirements of customers. For simulation of the multiproduct batch plant for different production plan was used Witness 2002 simulation software, a program for discrete event simulation.
