    Experimental study of periodically operated NOx storage catalyst

  • Original language description

    Economical diesel and advanced gasoline (lean-burn) engines are operated with excess of air in fuel mixture, with results in high O2 concentrations in exhaust gas and complicated NOx abatement. In the NOx storage and reduction catalyst, the NOx are adsorbed on the catalyst surface during a longer reductant-lean phase (several minutes), and then reduced during a short reductant-rich phase (several seconds). The products of reduction of NOx are nitrogen (N2), ammonia (NH3) and dinitrogen oxide N2O (only small amount). The laboratory experiments deal with the dynamic behaviour of periodically operated industrial, Pt/BaO/CeO2/?-Al2O3 based catalyst. The measurements are carried out under various conditions (i.e. various temperatures, compositions of inletmixture etc.). Then the integral conversion of NOx and selectivity of NH3 for different reductants (H2, CO and C3H6) are evaluated in dependence on temperature.

    Provedené experimenty se zabývají dynamickým chováním periodicky provozovaného průmyslového katalysátoru Pt/BaO/CeO2/?-Al2O3 s ukládáním a redukcí NOx. Měření jsou prováděna za různých podmínek (teplota, složení vstupní směsi). Produkty redukce NOx jsoudusík (N2), čpavek (NH3) a oxid dusný N2O (pouze malé množství). Jsou vyhodnoceny celkové konverse a selektivity redukce NOx v závislosti na teplotě a použitém redukčním činidle (H2, CO a C3H6).
