    Modeling of reaction-transport phenomena in polyolefin particles

    In this study we contribute to the development of the methodology capable to predict transport of monomers and other species in the known or assumed spatially 3D structure of polyolefin particles. Several polyethylene particles were digitally reconstructed from X-ray micro-CT (computed tomography) images. Further, we solved both the stationary and nonstationary diffusion equations in the spatially 3D structure of polyolefin particles. Diffusion transport was considered to take place both in particle pores and in the polymer phase. The knowledge of the predicted effective diffusivity in polyolefin particles is important for the production and processing of polymeric materials. Equations describing the transport processes were processed either by the finite volume or by the finite element methods.

    Byla vyvinuta metodologie pro predikci transportu monomerů a dalších složek ve známé prostorově 3D struktuře částic polyolefinů. Několik částic polyethylenu bylo digitálně rekonstruováno ze snímků rentgenové mikrotomografie. Byla řešena jak ustálená taki neustálená difuze v prostorově 3D struktuře částic polyolefinů. Difuzní transport byl uvažován jak v pórech tak v polymeru. Znalost predikované efektivní difuzivity v částicích polyolefinů je důležitá pro produkci a zpracování polymerních materiálů.
