The global environment yields changes in production that lead to the utilization of lean management. On the one side companies produce fewer products, high number of semi-finished products companies buy on the market. On the other side customers requestthe expressive differentiation of individual products. And all these trends result in methods of purchase, production and distribution control differ from methods that were used in former time. Today it is necessary to do and control within all supply chain. For achievement competitive level it is important to coordinate company's activities between partners in large supply chains. The basic collective effort should be the rendition of required level services to final customers. Nowadays for effective purchase, production and distribution plan and control in companies are utilized the simulation and simulation programmes. Globální životní prostředí přináší změny ve výrobě, které vedou k využívání štíhlého managementu. Na jedné straně produkují společnosti méně výrobků, velké množství polotovarů se nakupuje na trhu. Na druhou stranu zákazníci požadují značnou diferenciacijednotlivých produktů. A oba tyto trendy mají za následek, že metody řízení nákupu, výroby a distribuce jsou jiné než dříve. Dnes je nezbytné řídit celý dodavatelský řetězec. V současné době pro efektivní plánování a řízení nákupu, výroby a distribuce jsou v podnicích využívány simulace a simulační programy. Tento článek se zabývá simulačním programem Witness a jeho využítím pro řešení reálných problémů.
