The paper is devoted to the study of the multi-resolution approach of image compression employing the Haar wavelet transform. In the initial part of the paper the computation algorithm of the Haar transform for signals and images is proposed. Then its orthonormality property is analysed in connection with the preservation of the total amount of signal or image energy using its transform coefficients and following the Parseval's theorem. This property is the used to indicate the extent of possible imagecompression. The final part of the paper presents two perfect reconstruction conditions in the z-domain applying results to Haar filters.

Czech description
Příspěvek je věnovaný metodám komprese obrazů pomoci Haarovy wavelet transformace. Úvodní část je věnována navrženému výpočetnímu algoritmu. Vlastní příspěvek je zaměřen na analýzu ortogonality systému s ohledem na zachování celkové energie a její vyčíslení s využitím Parsevalova teorému. Tato vlastnost je dále použita pro detekci úrovně komprese. Závěrečná část práce je věnována podmínkách perfektní rekonstrukce obrazů a příslušným důkazům v z-rovině.
