Modelling of reaction and transport processes in catalytic monolith on different scales

  • Original language description

Development of a multi-scale model of catalytic monolith for conversion of exhaust gases is discussed. Three types of models on different hierarchical levels are presented: 1. Spatially 3D model of meso-porous -Al2O3 particles with deposited crystallitesof noble metal (catalytic sites), based on digital reconstruction utilizing TEM images of the catalyst. Typical size of the studied element is on the order of 100 nm ? 1 mm. The model describes effects of small pores (~ 10 nm) morphology, noble metals distribution, and size of the crystallites on the local reaction rate. 2. Spatially 3D model of a section of active catalytic layer (typical thickness 30 mm) ? monolith washcoat, consisting of Pt/-Al2O3 particles described in detail in model 1. The modelutilizes digital reconstruction techniques of porous media on the basis of SEM images, and detailed solution of reaction-transport processes inside the washcoat layer. From this model, spatially averaged reaction rate and effectiveness fa

Více-urovňové modelování reakce a transportu v katalytickém monolitickém reaktoru
