Particulate matter and NOx abatement in Diesel exhaust gas using CDPF and NH3-SCR
Original language description
Until now, advanced combustion techniques and exhaust gas recirculation have been used in Diesel passenger cars to meet the current European Nox emission limits (Euro 5). With the stricter Euro 6 emission regulations (2014), the exhaust gas recirculationwill probably not be sufficient to satisfy the outlet NOx concentration limits. Another issue of Diesel powered cars are particulate emissions, that need to be abated by a filter (DPF). For the abatement of nitrogen oxides, a NOx storage and reduction converter (NSRC) may be used. However, the NSRC needs to be periodically regenerated by executing fuel-rich phases, that increase the fuel consumption. The uncatalyzed particulate filter suffers from the same disadvantage. A catalyzed particulate filter (CDPF) is able to oxidize the accumulated soot using NO2 (that can be produced by an upstream-located diesel oxidation catalyst ? DOC). For the NOx abatement without any fuel consumption penalty, the selective catalytic reduction by ammoni
