Original language description
The aim of the work was to develop the mathematical model of a biofiltration process in a tricklebed bioreactor. The model includes mass balances of a substrate and a color pollutant in the liquid film and in the biofilm. The biofilm growth is also considered by means of an expression representing the change in the biofilm volume due to biomass growth, decay and erosion. The biofilm is modeled as a 2D domain, while the liquid film wetting the biofilm is represented by a boundary condition.
