Reliability Testing of a Simple Baggage Handling System
Original language description
The basic task of air transport is to transfer not only the passengers but also all their baggage to the destination place. That is why the airport systems of baggage handling are of great importance in modern air transport. Failure of these systems often causes a collapse and blocking of the airport. The only way to remove these problems is use of automatic systems of baggage handling. Their development is not possible without formation of computer models and following simulation experiments. The baggage handling systems can be modelled as systems of conveyors connected to each other. The conveyor system must moreover have a built-in system for scanning baggage identification data and their sorting by places of destination. A simple system of baggagehandling modelled as a discrete event system using Witness 2009 PwE simulation program is described in the contribution.
