Canard travelling waves of the spruce budworm population model
Original language description
We investigate a model of the spruce budworm population with dispersion. We study the existence of traveling waves by means of a transformation to the moving coordinate. The resulting system of ODEs is a three-dimensional slow--fast system. We show thatthe system exhibits two qualitatively different modes depending on the magnitude of the wave velocity. For small wave velocities the dynamics is quite complex and there are several types of traveling pulses. For large wave velocities we discovered a special class of traveling waves, the so called canard traveling pulses.
