3D simulation of monolith reactors - coupling of 1D channel model with CFD
Original language description
Spatially 3-dimensional monolith converter simulation can be considered the state-of-the-art regarding current simulation techniques. The software responsible for fluid dynamics (CFD) computes flow dynamics, mass and energy exchange and also reaction kinetics in the whole system. This approach is highly time-consuming and requires parallel computing systems with large memory. A single simulation usually takes hours to days. This paper presents a simplified approach, based on coupling of CFD software with effective 1D model of monolith channel.
