Motion Tracking and Gait Features Recognition Using MS Kinect
Original language description
Motion tracking forms an important research area with many applications including the detection of gait disorders in biomedicine and control of robotic systems by gesture recognition. While synchronized video sequences can be acquired by complex and expensive camera systems it is possible to use much cheaper MS Kinect image and Depth sensors with MatLab and its image processing toolbox for the three-dimensional modelling in many applications for video frames analysis with the sufficient accuracy. MS Kinect feature of a skeleton tracking makes it easy to create the three-dimensional modeling of movements of individual joints in the space. After suppression of some gross errors in coordinates analysis of movement, the possibility of the use of inexpensive MS Kinect device is large, it may be used for detection of gait disorders in biomedicine, or for gesture recognition in control of engineering systems, manipulators and robotics.
